Furthermore, Trump suggested he would evaluate comparable measures against Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympics due to perceived public safety risks.

Although Trump holds no direct legal authority to directly relocate either tournament, he may lobby the international organizations overseeing each competition to change locations.

Background of Comments

His remarks were made during a media briefing with Argentina's leader Milei, who was visiting the presidential residence following the revelation of a massive bailout for the Latin American nation. Near the conclusion of the gathering, a reporter questioned Trump about a current unauthorized gathering in Boston where police officers were attacked and a patrol car was burned. The reporter also asked if these incidents could cause the revocation of organizing rights for the expanded football competition.

“It's possible to take them away,” he said about the soccer matches, scheduled to be held at the Foxborough venue. “She is poor … they're radical left, and they’re occupying areas of Boston. It's a major statement, right?”
